Festive Feasting

Hangry Birds

The snow before Christmas turned our Mountain Ash into a decorative tree, filled with Berry Bells. The berries remained with their snow-covered caps into the New Year. These berries are a feast for the Bohemian Waxwings which live in our area. Without warning the waxwings appeared yesterday in a huge flock, cold and hungry. Extreme temperatures caused them to take a few berries, fly off together and return for more berries. This flitting back and forth lasted under 1/2 hour. When they left for good, the tree was bare. No leaves, no berries.
